A multiplexer is a piece of video surveillance equipment with multiple video inputs and one video output. A multiplexer is used to take many security cameras and present them on one video monitor. A multiplexer typically has a number of buttons on the front panel to allow the user to select which one (or which combination of) security cameras to look at. Although the same function can be achieved with a
DVR, the traditional multiplexer is often the simplest and most convenient for everyday use. There is no need to login to a system and operate a keyboard and mouse. Simply press the button and see what you want.
