How important is resolution? In a word, VERY. The better the resolution, the more likely one is to identify and object or person after an event occurs. Unfortunately, the higher the resolution, the more disk space and bandwidth is need to support the increased amount of data. At a minimum a video surveillance system should use CIF resolution or better.
Fortunately, many security cameras support higher resolutions and when combined with a DVR or NVR these systems can offer impressive results.
